Pink Floyd news :: Brain Damage – Roger Waters appearing on BBC’s Desert Island Discs.
Now that’s what I call radio!!
This together with Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon being voted best album cover ever got me thinking.
What would be my Top Ten Pink Floyd songs?
So I started to shortlist a few and then went about the process of cutting it down to ten. Now this took way too long. I took songs out and then put them back in and moved them up and down the Top Ten like a yo-yo. Indecisive?? You betcha!!!
I really didn’t want to exclude entire albums from the list but ended up doing exactly that and I also pondered hard and long on the question, “Bike or not to Bike?”.
Now “Bike” should probably be in there, not least because I find myself bursting into song with this in the most unsuitable of places. Doctors waiting rooms, dentist waiting rooms, bus stops, football matches and the flaming queue at the Post Office.
So Bike has burned itself into my consciousness probably more than any of the more serious stuff.
Nevertheless I omitted it purely on the basis that it could not take the place of a more intense or epic Pink Floyd track.
Apologies to fans of post Waters stuff and Syd Barrett because it’s not like I don’t still love those songs, it’s just so flaming hard to ignore the ones I eventually chose.
Well here it is!! Flame at will 🙂

So there you have it. The only choice that was easy for me was Echoes. It’s the track that firest drew me into the Floyd and it’s dark, spooky, sad and haunting. Fantastic track.
